What are the common filling methods?

In daily life, we’ve learned that filling machines are used in the processing and production of fluids, pastes, viscous substances, and other similar products. Different filling equipment employs different filling methods; among the more common ones are atmospheric pressure filling and vacuum filling, each suited to specific product requirements. For detailed information, let’s now take a closer look at these methods.
1. Atmospheric filling method:
This type of equipment typically elevates the storage tank to increase pressure. It uses its own weight as the driving force for filling and is suitable for processing products with good fluidity and low viscosity, such as milk and grape red wine.

2. Negative-pressure filling method:
This type of equipment is a vacuum filling machine, which must ensure that the pressure inside the bottle is lower than atmospheric pressure. Then, based on the principle of air pressure equilibrium, the product is filled and packaged. Such equipment generally has a simple structure, yet its components are tightly sealed and highly airtight. It places few stringent requirements on the viscosity of the materials being processed and can handle products such as syrups, oils, and sauces.

In summary, gravity-fed fillers rely on the weight of the material itself to fill the container and use time to control the flow rate; they are generally used for producing products that do not require high precision. Negative-pressure fillers, on the other hand, operate on the principle of a fixed liquid level—the height of the filling nozzle determines the liquid level in the bottle. Any material above the filling nozzle’s position will be drawn back. These fillers are commonly used for liquids such as wine, disinfectants, and water.
