The difference between a linear filling machine and a rotary filling machine

From a structural and external perspective, filling machines are mainly divided into two types: linear filling machines and rotary filling machines. So, what are the key differences between these two?

In a linear liquid filling machine, the packaging containers generally move in a straight line, and the filling process is intermittent. The machine adopts a modular design, meaning that each component of the filling head—and indeed each individual part—is independent. This design makes subsequent maintenance and servicing more convenient and flexible, and it’s easier for operators to handle and understand. Because the modular structure of a linear filling machine can have some impact on the filling speed, such machines are commonly used in large-scale beverage and mineral water enterprises. They can also be employed for filling materials with higher viscosity; however, their filling speed is relatively low, typically below 10,000 bottles per hour.

The packaging containers used in rotary filling machines generally undergo circular motion. These machines boast superior structural and performance characteristics, featuring precise fill-volume adjustment mechanisms and automatic electromechanical overload protection devices. The filling process can be either intermittent or continuous. Rotary liquid filling machines operate at relatively high speeds—typically exceeding 10,000 bottles per hour, and sometimes even reaching hundreds of thousands of bottles per hour—and have a comparatively large overall structure.
